In the works shown by Maximilian Davis, the impressions of the
character “Encolpius” are the central part of the cycle. In the
many memories and experiences during the journey through
history, scenes of passion are reflected. Various stations, such
as the stories of the poet Eumolpus and the scenes at the Cena
Trimalchionis find their place here. Maximilian presents key
experiences of these memories of Encolpius with all sorts of
metaphors on large canvases. On the numerous drawings, further
conditions and feelings of Encolpius manifest themselves. From
